High School valedictorian Denis Cooverman decides that he has to let Beth Cooper know that he loves her. He is President of the Chess club and she’s the head cheerleader. He has sat behind her since seventh grade but she doesn’t know who he is. He turns in speech into a rallying point for all of his classmates who have internal issues, including calling out the school bully, the girl with an eating disorder and Beth’s older boyfriend but worst of all he says “I love you, Beth Cooper” embarrassing her, his parents and just about everyone. After the ceremony Beth’s boyfriend threatens to kill him. He manages to talk to Beth and invites her to his graduation party. When she shows up with her girlfriends in tow he is shocked but excited and then her boyfriend and his posse show up. As Denis and his best friend run the crazed bunch out to kill them they get help from Beth and end up on an all night party. Unfortunately, it’s not funny. None of the characters are compelling, at no point do you care about what happens. For a teen romance comedy it lacks the romance and the comedy.
