Sacha Baron Cohen, the man who brought us “Borat:, ties to make lightning strike twice by bringing another of his “Ali G” characters to the big screen. This time it’s the flamboyantly gay Austrian fashionista Bruno, again played by Baron Cohen. After being fired from his TV show Bruno decides to become a star in America. What follows is a series of badly planned overly scripted and mostly unfunny vignettes as Bruno tries to shock everyone by being doing outrageous things in the guise of exposing anti-gay prejudice. How this film got an R rating instead of the NC-17 it deserves should be investigated by someone in authority. I liked “Borat” but this is a poor knock-off. If you really have to see it wait for the DVD, the deleted scenes have to make it better.
