Odd Horten’s life is about to change in one night, the evening of his retirement. After 40 years of riding the rails he is forced to retire. At 67 years old he is on his last journey as a train engineer. Odd is a button down dedicated engineer who is unmarried and not only facing the uncertainty of retirement but the possibility of romance. On his last night at work he finds in self in odd situations, unlikely adventures and puzzling dilemmas. This is the definition of quirky comedy with a heart. There seems to be a lot going on but at times you might nod off from how slow it is. Horten runs into a lot of interesting people on his last night many he knows and few he doesn’t. It is an absurd vision in idiosyncratic splendor with warmth and a little melancholy. In Norwegian with English sub-titles.
