Zed and Oh are incompetent hunter gatherers who end up exiled from their village. Zed is pompous and thinks it means that he has been chosen for greater things. They have no choice but to explore the world. On their journey they run into two battling brothers, a man about to sacrifice his son and end up in Sodom. They learn that their village was raided and everyone has been thrust into slavery. Determined to free the women they love, who barely know they are alive, they join the city guard only to find an old friend who turns on them. The story moves from cavemen to Old Testament Biblical stories without missing a beat finding crude humor in everything. There are very funny moments with some great acting but it is very uneven. If you are a Jack Black fan you will love it, if you are a Harold Ramis fan it will not disappoint you, it is a lot funnier than the commercials and trailer made it out to be. It is rated P-13 but it deserves the R it originally got.
