Burt and Veronica live in Colorado to be near his parents when they have their first child. Veronica is six months along when they find out his parents are leaving the country for a couple of years. Realizing that they have no reason to stay in Colorado they decide to visit their relatives and close friends across the country and decide where they want to raise their child. First they visit old work friends in Phoenix and after a quick turn of the dog race track and a cheap downtown motel they head to Tucson to visit Veronica’s sister. The funniest thing I have seen in a long time is what a kid says to them in the lobby of a resort about babies, it is so unexpected and wrong that I almost fell out of my seat. In Tucson she gets a new prospective from her sister that comes in handy when they visit a slightly off-center couple in Madison, Wisconsin. They also visit friends in Montreal and relatives in Miami. After traveling the continent will they discover what is important to them and happily settle down? Of course, but it’s what they learn and how they get there that makes it worth watching. This is a quirky film with a good cast and a few laughs that will appeal to anyone who frequents art houses and film festivals.
