There has been a lot of talk about the minature IMAX theatres in AMC and other multi-plexes. I have been a fan of IMAX since the first time I saw one of their 40 minute films on that massive 6 story screen many years ago. When I heard they had put an IMAX in a local AMC I was thrilled. That is until I attended a screening at one, I had no idea it was an IMAX screen until I was told as I left by a studio rep. I was astounded that they could call what appeared to be a slightly larger than regular screen an IMAX and charge extra for it. It is not fair and it hurts the name IMAX even as it makes more money.
When is an IMAX not an IMAX?
