Dr. Rich Marshall believes he has found a way to travel to an alternate universe and create abundant safe energy in the process. His funding is denied when his colleagues and a major TV host laugh at him. Years later Holly, a young research assistant, comes to him saying his idea works. They decide to take a quick trip to prove it and then tell the world. Unfortunately they are thrown into an alternate universe with a redneck loner and appear to be stuck there. They save a primate named Chaka and he helps them survive, sort of. Bizarrely Holly she can speak Chaka’s language but that's not the weirdest thing she does, she rips her jeans into short shorts for no apparent reason. They are chased by an intelligent T Rex and run afoul of alien lizard people. The special effects are just as cheesy as the TV series and the script is just as disjointed and silly. Having said that I did enjoy it, there are a lot of very funny scenes and the cast is likable.
