Christine Brown is an ambitious loan officer looking to be promoted to assistant manager of her bank branch but she faces stiff competition. When asked by an elderly woman for a third extension on her mortgage she does what is best for her career and turns her down. The woman later attacks her putting an ancient curse on her. She goes to see a psychic who tells her that a demon will torment her for three days and then drag her to hell. While telling her it is next to impossible to break they give it a shot. Director Sam Raimi uses the same style of combining horror and comedy that he did in the “Evil Dead” series and it works. Having said that it is not a comedy, there are plenty of scary scenes and lots of gory to satisfy horror film fans.
